I've decided to try and avoid annoying neighbor, as it just seems to irritate me, and old lady land lord. So far, they haven't tried to be more mature about their choices of living, but that is mostly fine by me. Now I've subconsciously started to show them up and make them feel trashy by being ever-so-classy. While they were outside smoking cigarettes and then casually dropping the buts into a baby formula can, I went outside to place a white marble tile underneath a spring plant, on my cute little black-laquered table between two white chairs. Annoying neighbor stood gawking, and then suddenly glared, while I turned, smiled, and said hello.

Okay. So I live in an apartment building, and I have this neighbor. This neighbor drives me insane. I am not sure why this is so, but none the less, I need to figure out why I'm reacting this way.

I am a nice person, I rarely raise my voice, or argue with people. I am considerate of people, and I am offended if you are not considerate also. I grew up with a workaholic dad, and a mom that assisted him in his work. I played the violin in a band with my dad from the age of 8 until the age of 16. I was homeschooled, I've always been very close to my parents, and my family, for the most part. I have always tended to befriend people older than I. I am a very happy person. I am happy with who I am, and where I am in life.

I moved in with my fiance about five months ago into this apartment building. We had maintained a long-distance relationship for over a year, and tried to stay strong through my father (whom I trust and am very close to) telling me that staying with my fiance was a waste of my time. I suppose you might say that he is the type of father that can never settle with someone for his daughter to marry because, simply, there is no one good enough to marry her. That fact drove him and I apart for a couple of years, but now, we are as close as we used to be, only with some minor alterations on our views of things. That there is mutual respect is what I still hope for, however.

I am a very loving, caring person, and it just drives me crazy that I am letting myself be so bothered by my neighbor like this. Let me explain the situation a little more:

My neighbor is my age, a little older perhaps, and she has two kids -- one toddler and one infant. She lives with her boyfriend, who appears to be the same age. They moved into the vacant appartment next door to us after three months of us being spoiled by the quiet space that was next door. They have males in their early twenties to late teens coming and going all the time, at all hours. They are all very unfriendly, and some of them make me question the security of living here. They run up the stairs, and slam the door when entering/leaving. They go outside and smoke, while talking very loudly, and they throw their cigarette buts over the railing, making a nice mess below. They bang on the walls, it seems, listen to loud music, slam the toilet seat down... whenever they use their kitchen sink, there is a loud gurling noise on our side of the wall. They go into their bathroom and presumably, they smoke marijuana, and hack and hack and hack, and then they get louder after the fact.

On top of all of that, they like to park their vehicles in other people's slots. The covered parking here is $20/month, and I have a slot, as do most people. Otherwise, there is other parking all around the apartment building. I parked in the other parking areas for a couple months, and then I decided to get a covered slot. The day that I got it and put my permit out, they parked in my slot. They aren't supposed to park in the covered parking, because they have no permit. I left a note on their vehicle, saying, basically, that the slot that they were parked in is mine, please don't park there. The next day, they were parked in one of my other neighbor's slots. That neighbor complained to me, as we talk to each other occasionally, and I told her of them parking my slot. We huffed and all of that, and decided to just talk to management. Mangagement is a little old lady, who is very sweet. She told me and the other neighbor that she talked to the neighbor, and the neighbor's mother (who is paying for this girl's rent.)

The same kept on happening for another week or two, so I complained again. Nothing has happened, and now, they are parked in another tenant's slot, and so that tenant parked behind her, and I can't exit my slot now. I confronted the neighbor this afternoon while I was putting things into my storage unit, and basically said that I was glad she wasn't parking in my slot anymore, but now she was parking in someone else's, and indirectly keeping me from getting out of my slot. She basically said that she has two kids, so she's sorry, but she's going to park wherever she wants to park, and that she hadn't heard any complaints about her parking.

This type of behavior just makes me crazy. What am I to do about this? I don't want to come off as a crazy person, because I am not, but I have just about had enough of this. If I were a little older, people like my neighbor might actually take me seriously. I'm tired of being run over by her rudeness and thoughtlessness. Is this just me, or am I right to be so irritated? What should I do?
